CADA responder training

Pastors ministers and other churchleaders are often in the frontlines of their local settings, as the first to meet both victims and abusers .

One of the most challenging issues to meet in pastoral care is often matters of domestic abuse in any form, first there is all the pain fear and stigma the persons we meet faces, then there are all the myths surrounding domestic abuse and ultimately the advice and guidance we give can be a matter of life and death .

Studies indicate that the most dangerous time for a victim is when they leave

the abusive partner; as much as77 percent of homicides related to domestic

abuse occur upon separation and there is a 75 percent increase of violence

upon separation and for up till two years after.

These are serious concerns that must be adressed with the victims safety

at heart.

In this 2 day course we go through the steps of how to:

define abuse - recognise signs of abuse - approach victims - adressing the myths -

evaluating risks and help set up safety plans to ensure safe exits - and also how to reach out to the abuser in a way that can help them chose to  change and find the right help to do so.

The basis in this training is Gods design for marriage to be in the fullness of His image and an outliving expression of the gospel (Gen1:26-28 Eph5:22-33). The experience and understanding psychology presents, but seen through the cross on a biblical foundation and with a focus on the redemptive power found in Christs finished works.

So you can apply it in your local setting according to your denomination and doctrine.
